Let’s dive in…
Setting Up Zoom Video Calling App on a Laptop
Using Zoom on a laptop or desktop computer is almost similar, and you don’t need a dedicated solution for that. However, in this guide, we would use a computer for using Zoom Cloud Meetings so that you can follow the instructions we would tell you.
The first thing that you should ensure is you have a decent quality webcam so that others can see you clearly and you don’t look creepy during video meetings. Your laptop most likely has a decent enough webcam, but if you think it sucks, then you will need to get one. If you are thinking about buying a new webcam, then we would recommend you Logitech C270 HD Webcam.
Once your webcam is ready to go live, you can visit the Zoom’s official site to get started.
You can straight go for the free plan, which allows you to connect with up to 100 participants simultaneously. However, you would not be able to go beyond 40 minutes while using a free plan.
Once you have signed up for the free Zoom plan, it’s time to download Zoom video chat software to your laptop. You will be automatically taken to the Zoom download page after the sign-up process. You can also manually open the Zoom download page by clicking here.
Keep in mind that you have to download for the operating system your laptop supports, such as if your laptop runs on Windows 10, ensure you download the Windows version.
Once the file downloads, run the setup file and complete the installation process.
How to Use Zoom: Host a Meeting
When the installation process ends, you can start using Zoom, but you should first know how to start or host a Zoom meeting. Here’s how to effectively organize your first meeting on Zoom Cloud Meetings:
Open the Zoom app on your system using the shortcut icon.

Once that done, Zoom will provide your login details for the members and control for users to log in with the app or their smartphones.
