HOW TO BUILD A GOOD FACEBOOK BUSINESS PAGE:
Any business owner looking to implement social media into their digital marketing strategies knows that fighting the algorithm is an uphill battle. Facebook has become one of the leading platforms for businesses to reach their potential clients, due to its billions of monthly users. Having a good Facebook page is crucial to increasing your Facebook Likes and engagement. So, what does it take to make your business page a “good” one?
Keep a healthy divide between what’s private and what’s public
It may sound obvious that professionalism is required when it comes to maintaining good business decorum, but social media can make it tricky. It may serve your business to share your opinions on news trends and current political unrest, depending on the atmosphere you wish to set, but it also may deter would-be clients from pursuing your services. Let your followers know that you take your work—and them—seriously. On your business page, you aren’t trying to sell yourself as an individual; you are presenting a cohesive brand, or at least should be taking steps to do so.
Present your logo
If you’re a freelancer developing a corresponding business page, a professional profile picture may be enough. Otherwise, work with a graphic designer (or do it yourself if you have the graphic design skills) so that you have a recognizable logo. This logo will be what your followers and clients see on the search results, the top of your Facebook page, the thumbnail of your posts, your website, and your products. You want your followers to be able to quickly and easily identify your business by your logo. While branding goes beyond just the logo, it doesn’t make the logo any less important.
Have a well-developed “About” page
Though followers have to intentionally search for and click on the About page of your Facebook business profile, it’s still one of the first places some of your followers will go to in order to learn more about you. Answer common questions, like what purpose your business is seeking to fulfill or how your followers can benefit from being associated with your business. Share noteworthy milestones in your business’ journey and invite followers to join your mission.
Don’t skimp on visual content
Be consistent with how often you post photos and videos on your Facebook business page’s timeline. Videos, more than pictures, hook people to hang around awhile and get to know your page. Visual content, when done wisely, accommodates for the short attention span people have for social media nowadays. Additionally, regularly posting demonstrates that your business is active and growing.
Enable private messaging
Any successful social media influencer can tell you that their DM’s and PM’s are constantly flowing with follower’s questions and comments. Allowing followers to private message you about your business reassures them that you are indeed reachable—that you’re not difficult to get in contact with or too busy to respond to their concerns.
However, this can easily backfire if you don’t manage your time well enough to actually reply to your followers. You don’t want to become known for never responding when someone comes to your business page with an inquiry. This is another tier of the overall professionalism that you should aim to offer with your Facebook business page, just as you would with in-person clients.
